Reaching out to states, international organizations, and civil society is crucial to raise global awareness of the negative interrelation between armed violence and development.

 

The Geneva Declaration calls for periodical reviews on the progress in achieving measurable reductions in the levels of armed violence worldwide.

In order to reflect diverse regional and sub-regional perspectives on armed violence and development, high-level diplomatic meetings are held in different parts of the world.

A high-level conference on armed violence and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is to be held on 21 - 22 April 2010 in Oslo.


The Geneva Declaration advocates the inclusion of the issue of armed violence prevention within the UN System.
