Participants

The Regional Review Conference in Nairobi involve more than 140 participants, mostly from the Sub-Saharan Africa region (i.e. Central, Southern, Southeast, and Western Africa, as well as the Horn of Africa), drawn from national governments, local authorities, civil society organizations, international and regional organizations, UN agencies, academia, and the private sector. Although the Regional Review Conference primarily targets states, the Geneva Declaration acknowledges the central roles that other actors can play in preventing and reducing armed violence.

Interested civil society organizations were invited to apply. A selection was jointly organized with the Global Alliance on Armed Violence (GAAV).

A limited sponsorship programme was set up to enable selected participants from eligible low income countries and selected representatives from non-governmental organizations to attend the conference.
