Participation

The Regional Conference of the Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development in the MENA region was attended by some 100 representatives from the region, participants from the Sahel nations directly affected by armed violence acting as observers, as well as representatives from member states of the GD steering group, regional, sub-regional and international organizations, academics and actors from civil society.

Interested civil society organizations were invited to apply. A selection was jointly organized with the Global Alliance on Armed Violence (GAAV), in partnership with the Moroccan government.

A limited sponsorship programme was set up to enable selected participants from eligible low income countries and selected representatives from non-governmental organizations to attend the conference.
