New Geneva Declaration publications released at the 2nd Ministerial Review Conference

A number of reports and publications have been released by the Geneva Declaration Secretariat to inform the discussions at the Second Ministerial Review Conference on 31 October - 1 November 2011.

       

New Publication: Armed Violence Monitoring Systems

Contributing Evidence to Programming: Armed Violence Monitoring Systems aims to clarify the concept of armed violence monitoring systems (AVMS) and to deepen understanding of their work. It is designed to inform policy-makers and practitioners who are working on violence reduction and prevention and who are interested in supporting or establishing an AVMS. The report will allow experts to compare their experiences with those of others, and will inform researchers and academics who work on developing indicators that capture the scale and scope of armed violence at a local, national, or global level.

       

Ethno-Religious Conflict in Jos, Nigeria – Executive Summary

A Deadly Cycle: Ethno-Religious Conflict in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria examines the root causes of conflict in Jos and its transformation into a wider ethno-religious protracted conflict. An Executive Summary of the forthcoming Working Paper by Jana Krause has been produced for distribution at an intergovernmental meeting on armed violence prevention and reduction, being held in Abuja, Nigeria.

     

New Geneva Declaration Working Paper: Tackling Violence against Women

Tackling Violence against Women: From Knowledge to Practical Initiatives, discusses violence against women in the context of the Geneva Declaration, focusing on the relationship between armed violence against women and development, setting out five possible initiatives to fill research gaps in the area.

     

Translation of Geneva Declaration and Information Leaflet

The GD Secretariat has published the GD information leaflet as well as the text of the Declaration in the following languages: Arabic, English, Spanish, French, Russian, Hindi, Urdu, Bangla, Nepali.
