Peace, Development and Human Security: towards new Millennium Development Goals?

The Permanent Missions of Finland, Panama, and Switzerland, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Quaker United Nations Office (QUNO), and the Secretariat of the Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development are delighted to invite you to a panel discussion on: Peace, Development and Human Security: towards new Millennium Development Goals?

Thursday 23 May 2013 | 13:00-15:00

Conference Room XXVII, E Building, Palais des Nations | Geneva

Armed conflict and violence between and within nations ruin people's lives and undermine development and economic growth. It is increasingly recognized that armed violence not only is a cause but is also a consequence of certain development deficits. Building on the experiences and results of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) process, new pathways to development are needed, pathways designed to advance peace and human security. This panel discussion will explore ongoing initiatives that urge the inclusion of peace and human security in the post-2015 development agenda. It will also consider the role of different actors in supporting such an agenda.
