2014 - Working together to end armed violence
The Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development (GD) has held regular review conferences to assess progress its process and implementation. Review Conferences also provide an opportunity to highlight the agenda for armed violence reduction and prevention, and to build political momentum behind the core objectives of the GD. Previous Ministerial Review Conferences were held in Geneva in 2008 and 2011. To continue this momentum, a series of GD Regional Review Conferences (RRCs) will be held during 2014 to review the implementation of the Geneva Declaration's principles and to strengthen support in the meaningful integration of armed violence reduction in national, regional, and international development processes, including the post-2015 development agenda. The Regional Review Conferences will be held in five different regions. Each will be co-hosted by a Core Group Member from the relevant region, along with the Government of Switzerland and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The first conference will be held in Guatemala in March 2014.
